CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS |
A chiropractic adjustment is a manual manipulation of the vertebral segments of the spine performed by a chiropractor. The intention of an adjustment is to remove nerve interference cause by a vertebral misalignment, referred to as a SUBLUXATION.
The adjustment is a calculated treatment taking into consideration your symptoms, a case history, range of motion, palpation exam, orthopedic and neurological tests and x-ray findings. Our ultimate goal is to stabilize your spine, thereby relieving pain, discomfort, and restoring proper nerve function.
The adjustment itself is usually painless and it's healing ability starts immediately. You may notice a change either instantly, or within a few hours depending on the severity of your problem. Occasionally a longer period of time is necessary when actual damage to the disc or joints has occurred.

HOT AND/OR COLD PACKS
A moist heat source will be applied to your areas of discomfort and muscle spasm. The heat will relax spastic muscle and ligaments which leads to improve motion and blood flow in the joints between the bones. This results in a decrease of your pain. The increased blood flow through the body tissues has a washing effect, carrying away the products of injured or spastic muscles and bringing in the proper nutrients and minerals which enhance healing. Heat also has a pleasant, soothing effect on your entire body system. Cold is placed on painful, swollen areas, especially on acute sprains and strains. The cold will reduce pain and swelling so that the doctor can provide you with proper treatment.

ULTRASOUND
This is a unique therapy with consists of high frequency sound waves which harmlessly penetrate deep into the joints and the muscles of your body. The effect of ultrasound is to mechanically increase tendon and ligament mobility. Ultrasound also will increase local blood flow. These effects reduce pain in your joints and promote healing quickly.
NEURO-MUSCULAR THERAPY
Various methods of electronic muscle stimulation are used in our office. The purpose of neuro-muscular stimulation is to relax or tone muscles that are restricting the spine form moving toward a normal state. This also has a stimulating effect that blocks pain and neutralizes muscle spasms.
VIBRATORY MASSAGE
This vibration massage therapy takes away your pain by relaxing muscle spasms and directly stimulating blood vessels to allow better blood circulation. This massage has been used with much success in headache reduction.
TRACTION THERAPY
The spinalator is used to simultaneously traction and release various segments of the spine. It is an excellent way to get a fully extended range of motion out of your spine.

ORTHOTICS - DIGITAL FOOT SCANNER |
The feet are the foundation of the entire body; many problems can arise when the feet are not stabilized. It is also important to have support and shock absorption. By wearing Foot Leveler Orthotics there is less wear and tear on the feet, ankles, knees, hips and spinal column.
Dr. Van Senus uses a Digital Foot Scanner to ensure precision and accuracy when custom fitting patients for foot orthotics. This state of the art equipment leaves no room for error. The scanner is able to show the topography of the feet in a weight bearing position which is important in examining the lateral, medial and transverse arches. The scanner is also able to show if the feet are supinating or pronating. This information is sent to the laboratory where the technicians do a 16 point measurement and customize the orthotics which are specifically made for you. The inserts are removable and can be placed in multiple shoes. The type of orthotic that suits your needs can be discussed with Dr. Van Senus.
All of the orthotics are designed to correct postural imbalances, reduce shock absorption and provide stability. |
