| Chiropractic is the art and science based on "vitalism" and the diagnosis and treatment of the spine and spinal disorders of the nervous system. In order to achieve 100% function within the body, the integrity of the nervous system must be maintained. Chiropractors focus on the spine because this is where spinal nerves exit and travel to the body. Messages from the brain regulate all bodily functions by transversing up and down the body via the spinal cord then out to the spinal nerves, which in turn innervate every single cell, tissue, muscle and gland in the body. Because we have 24 movable segments in our spine, it is not uncommon for one or more of the bones to move out of their proper juxtaposition from time to time. This may cause aberrant motion, pain, swelling, and most importantly, decreased nerve function: For these reasons, it is of vital importance to keep the communication between the brain, spinal cord and spinal nerves crystal clear so that the brain can properly deliver messages to all areas of the body at all times. This simply means, removing blocked messages caused by a hard bone pinching on a soft nerve. A chiropractor is trained and licensed to locate and correct vertebral subluxations. Our intention is to restore proper motion to that joint causing not only a restoration of function, but ultimately reducing local and distal nerve pressure. When you have good consistent chiropractic health care, everybody wins. You win because you no longer experience pain, your joints are loose and your discs will not degenerate. In addition, your overall systematic health and ability to fight off disease improves. The chiropractor wins by getting daily positive feedback from patients who feel better, and by earning a living doing something that is rewarding to others. Insurance companies and employers win because chiropractic care is usually cheaper and more effective for musclo-skeletal related problems than medicine and surgery; people can go back to work faster and with less residual pain. Good health and a sound back go together. Healthy people make healthy choices about themselves, their environment and the people around them! |
